18th: A second brood Peacock in New Duston.

8th: A second brood Peacock in New Duston.

6th: A second brood Peacock emerged from pupa in New Duston, Northampton, having been reared in a cage from caterpillar the stage, along with three others that emerged over the next few weeks (see above).

October
31st: A Long-tailed Blue was found feeding on the hanging baskets outside the Lakeside pub along Bedford Road in Northampton (NN4 7YD, grid ref - SP 78358 59436 ) before going to roost shortly after. The origin is unknown as the larva can sometimes be accidentally imported in bags of Mange tout peas. However, with the large amount of sightings down south coupled with the southerly winds and weather fronts, this could be a genuine wild butterfly.

7th: On the clover fields to the south of Lower Benefield 7 Clouded Yellows and 2 Small Tortoiseshells.

6th: At Harrington Airfield 1 Clouded Yellow.
On the Clover fields south of Lower Benefield at least 28 Clouded Yellows remain along with Common Blue, Small Copper, Large White and a Painted Lady.

5th: At least 14 Clouded Yellows are still present on the Clover fields south of Lower Benefield.

3rd: A full count of the Clouded Yellows currently flying around the fields of Clover south of Lower Benefield reached a total of at least 54 individual Clouded Yellow butterflies. This represents a Northamptonshire record for the most seen in one area. For those wishing to visit there are footpaths through the area which are centred around grid references SP 99392 88446, SP 99059 88468 and SP 99170 88070.
