On the edge of Weldon Park Wood 4 Silver-washed Fritillary.
27th: A female Brown Hairstreak was observed along the footpath through the meadow at Jacks Green between Apethorpe and Nassington. This is the first record of the species in the county for approximately 60 years and although a release can’t be ruled out Brown Hairstreaks were seen in the north of the county until the mid 1900’s therefore this could be a sign of a colony that has survived in a remote location. Surveys will be carried out shortly to try and find a colony and due to the sensitive nature of the site visitors are reminded to please keep on the rights of way, please ensure all records are sent to the Northants county recorder.

During the butterfly walk after our Moth Event at Pitsford Water we saw 1 Small Skipper, 1 Essex Skipper, 3 Large Skipper, 4 Large White, 2 Small White, 1 Green-veined White, 5 Red Admiral, 5 Small Tortoiseshell, 5 Comma, 1 Speckled Wood, 1 Marbled White, 3 Gatekeeper, 13 Meadow Brown and 50 Ringlet. In Fermyn Woods amongst numerous Large Skipper, Meadow Brown, Ringlet were 2 Brimstone, 1 Green-veined White, 3 Purple Hairstreak, 1 Black Hairstreak, approx. 14 Purple Emperor, 3 Red Admiral, 7 Small Tortoiseshell and 10 Silver-washed Fritillary (including 1 of the form valezina).
1st: A Monarch was a surprise garden visitor to a Brixworth resident but unfortunately this butterfly is almost certainly a release.

5th: The 1st Common Blue, Small Copper and Small Heath of the year were seen during the weekly transect at Twywell Hills and Dales along with 38 Dingy Skipper, 11 Grizzled Skipper, 1 Brimstone, 1 Green-veined White, 9 Green Hairstreak, 1 Peacock and 1 Speckled Wood. At Fermyn Country Park 6 Dingy Skipper, 6 Grizzled Skipper, 3 Green Hairstreak and a Comma was seen and in the nearby Fermyn/Lady Wood complex 30 Brimstone, 2 Large White, 30 Green-veined White, 40 Orange-tip, 3 Holly Blue, 8 Peacock, 10 Comma, 2 Small Tortoiseshell and 10 Speckled Wood.
